Create A MLM Marketing Plan First!
It doesn't matter if you are new to network marketing or looking for a new direction for your current business. The key to success is creating a marketing plan for your home based business.
It is not as hard to do as you think and you don't need a degree in marketing to create one for your small business. I will give you an outline to follow and once you have created your plan you can start to build your home business with a sense of direction.
What is a MLM Home Business Marketing plan?
It
is simply a plan of action that will
be an overview
of your company, goals,
target
audience,
strategies
and
tactics to achieve sales, and
establish a budget.
It’s
a road
map to success.
It does not have to be
complicated, but every entrepreneur needs to be aware of what it is
they need to do, who they need to reach and how they will attract their
prospect or targeted market.
Step One: Situation Analysis
Start
with Your Situation Analysis
Marketing
plan outlines usually start with
a situation
analysis. This is
the first area of your marketing plan you must address. It's a brief overview of your business right
now.
-
Create
a short description
of your product or service
-
Describe
the problems
you face in your business
-
Give
a brief overview
of what needs to be done
For Example, Your Marketing Plan Outline May Read Like This...
Description
- "Building a network marketing business with focus on Healthcare products.
Problems -
"Ran out of family and friends to prospect"
Needs
- "I need to create new ways to promote my business and bring in
my own leads that are looking to start a home-based MLM business"
Now you can define your target market
You’ve
done all your homework regarding your business opportunity. You know all about
your product, the company you are representing, the comp plan etc…
Now
it is time to start bringing in prospects and turning them into business
partners. You have exhausted your warm market and you need a plan for long term
growth.
Who is your Target Market?
It
depends on what you are marketing. Obviously it is people that are most likely
to buy your product or join your business opportunity or product users.
Let’s
forget about the product for a minute and focus on your business opportunity.
Basically there are 3 markets that you must target.
-
People actively searching for a home business opportunity.
(opportunity seekers) These people are at the just looking
point in their but are looking for a change in their lives. Until they
actually invest money by starting a business or purchasing training
resources, they are just looking. But you caught their attention and you
must keep their interest.
-
Current network marketers looking for a new opportunity.
(business builders) Rather than wasting time trying to
get your aunt sally to sign up, you should be marketing towards people
that are already in network marketing. These are people ready to join and
already have experience.
-
People searching for information about your specific opportunity.
These are people that typed in the exact keywords of your
opportunity in google and have already heard about your company. These
people are almost ready to join but may be looking for the right team to
join or just want more info on the company to validate their decision.
These are the people you must be reaching if you have any hope of building a solid
downline.
You
cannot design and put up a capture page or website until you have determined who your target
market is. You will be putting up several pages each designed to attract a
certain person. You will market to each of these target markets differently
because each one is looking for something different.
The
key here is to create a marketing funnel that brings these people to you. To be
successful you must have leads coming in everyday.
Goal Setting
You will be setting short term goals, (daily, weekly, monthly) ans long term goals. (Where you would like to be 1 year from now).
Short term goals may include: Building and updating a blog, writing and submitting 2 articles per week, creating capture pages to attract leads to you, calling 10 people per day etc...
Long term goal may be: Earn $50,000 after first year. Quit my day job.
To be
successful in network marketing, or any small
home based business, goals must be written down, clearly
defined and measurable by time. This is an essential part of your
marketing plan outline.
Post these goals in
a place where you can review
them
daily. Read them daily for
maximum results. If you do not set goals and review them daily you cannot measure your success and adjust your plan accordingly.
Strategies and tactics to achieve your goals.
Obviously your main strategy should be to attract leads to you and your opportunity. The tactic is how you plan on making this happen.
You need to outline your strategy to achieve your short term goals. Once you have determined your strategy then you can design the tactics you will use to get there.
Example: Strategy is to bring in my own leads through a capture page. Your tactics may include Google Adwords, Classified advertising, Articles, etc....
